Changing Chat Settings

You can control who can read/hear any spatial/text chat your X4 items put out, or even disable all text chat entirely:

1. Click the 'My Body' button on the main window of your X4 HUD.
2. Click the 'Settings' button in the middle of the 'My Body' window.
3. Left click one of the blue arrows next to 'Chat Setting' in the My Body Settings window to rotate through the options you have for text chat:

• Silent - disables text chat entirely
• Whisper - only avatars within 10 meters of your avatar will see/read the text chat
• Say - avatars within 20 meters of your avatar will see/read the text chat
• Private - only you and the person touching your X4 item will be able to see/read your text chat

OR, if you do not have an X4 HUD, 

1. Left click on your X4 item in-world.
2. From the dialog menu select 'Options'.
3. From the dialog menu select 'Chat'.
4. From the dialog menu select the button that corresponds to the chat option you wish to use.

Please note that if you use the 'Private' setting with someone that setting will remain in effect until you either reset your X4 item or change your chat setting to something else.  This may mean that your X4 item may send that person your arousal and Action messages when you next use your X4 item later on, even if you are not playing with that person. It is best to switch out of the 'Private' setting when you finish interacting with someone.
