Installing Items to the Drop Box

To install animations or sound files into your Drop Box:

1)  Make sure you have your Drop Box handy.  If you do not have one you will need to get one.

2)  Detach your Drop Box by right clicking on it in your Inventory and selecting 'Detach' from the menu. DO NOT EVER detach something by left clicking on it in world and selecting 'Drop' from the radial menu - you will lose your item.

3)  Rez your Drop Box on the ground in-world in a region that allows you to do so (click and drag it from your Inventory window to the ground).

4)  Right click on the Drop Box and select 'Edit' from the menu.

5)  In the Edit window click on the 'Contents' tab.

6)  Click and drag any items you wish to move into your Drop Box from your Inventory window.

7)  Pick up and wear your Drop Box.

The items installed will now be accessible to your X4/X5 items.  You may need to 'Refresh' your X4/X5 item displays to see new items you have just added.

Please note that due to an SL bug your Drop Box, which starts out as free permissions, may inherit the permissions of the items you install into it, making it No Copy, No Transfer, or both.  If your Drop Box says that it is No Modify ignore it - you will still be able to install items into it even with this flag.

Important: Xcite! will not be responsible for any items that you lose or damage by putting them into your Xcite! Drop Box.  To put items into your Drop Box you will need to drop the Drop Box in-world and transfer items to it.  This process does place you at risk of losing either your Drop Box or its contents when Second Life is having issues.  These issues are not controlled or caused by Xcite!, so we cannot be held liable for situations that arise from them. It is highly recommended that you make a copy of your Drop Box before adding items to it, and that you install items into the Drop Box that are copiable whenever possible, so that if you do experience inventory loss you have backup copies of these items.

If you run into trouble while following these steps please send an IM to Alexisnow Resident in-world with your question.  Please be sure to state the question as clearly as you can, providing as much detail as you can about specifically what item you are asking about, what you are exactly trying to do and what you have already tried, describing what happened when you did it.  The more information you provide the better able we will be able to get you accurate answers.
