X4 Fangs

What Are They

Xcite! X4 Fangs are an accessory designed to be used in conjunction with the Xcite! X4 Lips that add the visual appearance of fangs and some related special effects. The X4 Fangs can be used on their own, but to gain access to all the functionality related to the X4 Fangs they are best used in conjunction with the X4 Lips and X4 HUD. Controlling the X4 Fangs functionality is done using either the Xcite! X4 HUD or the Xcite! Fangs HUD that is shipped with the Fangs - please note that the X4 Lips must be worn when trying to use the X4 Fangs functionality in the X4 HUD.

Wearing Your Fangs

Before you wear your Xcite! X4 Fangs for the first time be sure to make backup copies and store them someplace out of the way in your Inventory.  Occasionally Second Life has issues that may result in your Inventory items disappearing. It's also sometimes possible for your scripted objects to become non-functional while you wear them due to a variety of SL technical issues or region settings. Having a backup copy means you don't have to contact Customer Support if you lose your X4 item or if they suddenly stop behaving like you think they should - simply make a new copy from your backup, Sync and you are back in business. 

To begin using your Xcite! X4 Fangs you will need to Wear them.  To Wear them:

1. Find them in your Inventory.  If you have no idea where they may be in your Inventory type 'fang' into the Search box at the top of your Inventory window, and they should be shown to you.
2. Left click on the first Fang you want to wear in your Inventory and select 'Attach To…' from the drop-down menu. 
3. Select 'Mouth' from the drop down menu.
4. Repeat this for all of the other Fangs you wish to wear, selecting 'Mouth from the drop down menu.

The reason to use 'Attach To…' instead of 'Wear' is because all of the Fang objects need to be worn on the 'Mouth' attachment point, and once you have something worn on that attachment point the next thing you try to 'Wear' that goes on the same spot will displace that item rather than attaching in addition to it. 'Attach To…' adds items to the same attachment point, rather than replacing them.

Please note that if you are not using the official Second Life client your menu options may be slightly different than what is described here.

Because every avatar is going to be slightly different you may find that you need to adjust the position or size of your X4 Fangs for them to look just right on your avatar. To do this:

1. While wearing your Xcite! Fangs right click on one of them and select 'Edit' from the menu.
2. If you need to adjust the up/down, side to side, or backward/forward position click the button next to 'Position' in the Edit window and use the colored arrows to move your Fang on your avatar.
3. If you need to adjust the angle or rotation of your Fang click the button next to 'Rotation' in the Edit window and use the colored rings to turn your Fang.
4. If you need to adjust the size of your Fang  click the button next to 'Stretch' in the Edit window and use the white boxes around your Fang to change the size. Please note that some of the Fangs are already pretty small and may not be able to be resized.

The Edit interface can sometimes be a little touchy, so using small moves/adjustments is recommended. It is also recommended that you be standing on a pose stand as you do this to prevent your avatar from moving around or standing in a strange position while you make your adjustments.

Retract/Expose

Once you are wearing your X4 Fangs you can use the X4 HUD or the Xcite! Fangs HUD to 'hide' and 'show' them. Please note that if you plan to use the X4 HUD to control your Fangs you will need to be wearing your X4 Lips.

Using the X4 HUD:

1. Make sure you are wearing your X4 Lips, Fangs and HUD.
2. From the main window of your X4 HUD click the 'My Body' button.
3. In the My Body window click the lips area on the paperdoll image.
4. In the X4 Lips window click the 'Fangs' button.
5. In the X4 Fangs window click either 'Retract' or 'Expose', depending on which you want to do.

Using the Xcite! Fangs HUD:

1. Make sure you are wearing your Fangs and HUD.
2. On the Fangs HUD click either 'Retract' or 'Expose', depending on which you want to do.

Blood Drip

Your X4 Fangs include a blood drip feature which, when activated, causes drops of blood to fall from your Fangs for about 10 seconds. You can control this using either your X4 HUD or your Fangs HUD. Please note that if you plan to use the X4 HUD to control your Fangs you will need to be wearing your X4 Lips.

Using the X4 HUD:

1. Make sure you are wearing your X4 Lips, Fangs and HUD.
2. From the main window of your X4 HUD click the 'My Body' button.
3. In the My Body window click the lips area on the paperdoll image.
4. In the X4 Lips window click the 'Fangs' button.
5. In the X4 Fangs window click the 'Drip' button.

Using the Xcite! Fangs HUD:

1. Make sure you are wearing your Fangs and HUD.
2. On the Fangs HUD click the 'Drip' button.

Appearance

Your X4 Fangs include a blood stain feature which, when activated, causes your Fangs to look bloodstained. You can control this using either your X4 HUD or your Fangs HUD. Please note that if you plan to use the X4 HUD to control your Fangs you will need to be wearing your X4 Lips.

Using the X4 HUD:

1. Make sure you are wearing your X4 Lips, Fangs and HUD.
2. From the main window of your X4 HUD click the 'My Body' button.
3. In the My Body window click the lips area on the paperdoll image.
4. In the X4 Lips window click the 'Fangs' button.
5. In the X4 Fangs window click the 'Blood' or 'Clean' button depending on which appearance you want. You can click the 'Blood' button repeatedly to get different styles of blood stains.

Using the Xcite! Fangs HUD:

Make sure you are wearing your Fangs and HUD.

On the Fangs HUD click the 'Blood' or 'Clean' button depending on which appearance you want. You can click the 'Blood' button repeatedly to get different styles of blood stains.

Expressions

Using the Fangs window on your X4 HUD you can easily activate a selection of SL expressions which may be helpful while using your Fangs. When you activate an expression in this manner the expression will hold until you stop it, rather than stopping by itself after a few seconds. Please note you can only gain access to this control using your X4 HUD.

1. Make sure you are wearing your X4 Lips, Fangs and HUD.
2. From the main window of your X4 HUD click the 'My Body' button.
3. In the My Body window click the lips area on the paperdoll image.
4. In the X4 Lips window click the 'Fangs' button.
5. In the X4 Fangs window click the name of the expression you want to use.
6. When you want to stop the expression click 'None' (in red in the lower right corner).

Actions

By themselves the X4 Fangs are not clickable and thus do not have their own Actions.  It is recommended that you consider creating a Lips Profile on your Configuration webpage that has Fangs-related Actions so you can switch to it quickly when you want to use your Fangs.  You would then click on your Lips to get the Actions in the menu.
