Recoloring Accessories

You will use the Color Picker window of your X4 HUD to change the color of any of your X4 body part Accessories. Using the various options available through the Color Picker you can achieve any color possible and have options so that you can use whatever method makes the most sense to you, including using color sliders, color palettes, the traditional color wheel, and even applying exact RGB values if you know them.

1.  Make sure you are wearing your X4 HUD and the X4 body part bearing the accessory that you want to color.

2.  Click the ‘X4’ button on your X4 HUD.

3.  Click the area on the screen that corresponds to the X4 body part bearing the accessory that you are coloring.

4.  Click the ‘Color’ button.

5.  Create your color in one of the 6 color tiles.  You have several options on how to do this, so choose the method that feels most comfortable to you.  Please read here for instructions on using all of the color creation options on the X4 HUD Color Picker window, and then return to this instruction list when you have the color you want saved in one of the color tiles.

6.  Click in the ‘Color Target’ box.

7.  Click the part of the X4 accessory that you wish to color (please note that some X4 accessories have different parts that can be colored independently so be sure to click on the specific part you want to color.)  The name of that part should appear in the ‘Color Target’ box.  (If it doesn’t check here for reasons why it might not.)

8.  Click the ‘Apply’ button.

The color you created will now be applied to the X4 Accessory that you targeted.  Repeat these steps (starting at step 3) for each section of the X4 Accessory your are coloring if the Accessory has more than one section that can be colored independently.

The name of my X4 Accessory part doesn’t show up in the Color Target box when I click it.

The most common reason for this is that you may have your EZ Click Sphere enabled for that body part.  The EZ Click Sphere is a large invisible sphere that creates a large click area so that your X4 body part is easily clickable.  If it is enabled however it will prevent you from being able to click directly on the body part or its Accessories, which you will need to be able to do while coloring them.  To fix this:

1. Left click on your X4 body part and from the dialog box select ‘Options’.

2. From the dialog box select ‘Configure’ and open the web page that is presented.

3. Find the Profile for that body part - it should have a green checkmark next to it in the Profiles list.

4. From the drop down menu next to that Profile select ‘Change Appearance’.

5. Scroll down the Appearance page until you see the EZ Click Sphere in the list and uncheck it.

6. Click the ‘Apply Changes button at the bottom of the page.

7. Back in-world left click on your X4 body part and from the dialog box select ‘Options’.

8. From the dialog box select ‘Sync’.

9. From the dialog box select ‘Reload’.

Please allow the sync to complete without clicking anything.  The EZ Click Sphere will now be disabled so that you may click directly on your X4 body part and its Accessories.  Don’t forget to re-enable the EZ Click Sphere when you are done coloring.
